It is hard to ignore the fact that Americans are getting bigger.  It has been a growing problem for the past few decades.  Did you know two thirds of adults in the United States are overweight?  Studies have shown that 80% of people diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes are overweight and 70% of people with heart disease are overweight. 

Obesity is reaching epidemic proportions even though we have access to the finest medical care, fitness facilities, diet books, natural foods and more.  All the tools and knowledge you could possibly want are within your reach, yet people are gaining weight at an all time high rate.   Why is it so hard to be fit and healthy?

There are multiple factors that have lead to the obesity epidemic.  A few of them are, less active lifestyle, fast food, package high calorie low nutrient convenience foods, stressful lifestyle, sleep deprivation from fast paced lifestyle and the list goes on.  People are turning to food to help them through their stressful busy lives. 

If you are interested in taking control of your weight and health, there is hope.  Your body wants to be healthy and will do whatever it can to be healthy, but it requires your support with good fuel, physical activity and rest to perform at its peak potential.  If you are confused about how to lose weight, lacking motivation to get started, you don't know where to start to tackle your weight, and/or you don't have any energy, you may be a candidate for health coaching.

A health coach is knowledgeable about weight loss and creating a healthy body. 

A health coach will help you:

  • set goals
  • identify what is keeping you from losing weight
  • educate you on options for weight loss
  • guide you towards physical activity
  • empower you to change your unhealthy lifestyle
  • create a step by step plan to accomplish your goals
  • motivate you to stay on track
  • celebrate your successes
  • provide accountability
  • assist you with baby steps to achieve your goals

A health coach is able to help you achieve your weight loss goals when you have failed before because they set up an individualized weight loss program just for you.  Everyone is different and that is why one diet or exercise program works terrific for one person, but doesn't work for another.  A health coach is like a detective.  They search for clues in your lifestyle to find out why you are overweight, what gets in your way of losing weight and then create a plan just for you.  Another powerful component of health coaching is providing you with accountability and support.  It is easy to say, I'll get back on track with my program tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes for a lot of people who try to lose weight on their own.  People have found that when they work with a health coach they are more motivated to follow through on their actions to lose weight.  They want to be able to tell their coach all their accomplishments and celebrate their successes. 

A health coach also takes the confusion out of weight loss.  There is so much conflicting information about diets, exercise, health, and nutrition; that it can be difficult to know who or what to believe.  A health coach is knowledgeable about health and wellness and can be your guide through all the confusion.  This will allow you to put your efforts into reaching your goals instead of being stuck in trying to figure out where to start.

Health is a precious asset.  It is something that many people take for granted until it is gone.  A health coach will help you take care of the precious asset of health so you can live a life full of vibrant vitality and wellness. 

If you are interested in creating permanent weight loss, working with a health coach can provide you the tools and resources you need to achieve your goal.  Your weight didn't come on all at once and it will not come off all at once.  By working with a health coach you will be creating a new healthy lifestyle one small baby step at a time.  Over time you will be transforming your way of living from unhealthy patterns to healthy patterns.  Through this lifestyle transformation, you will create permanent change and turn into the person you always dreamed of being.
